Nerve Flossing | Pass The Baton | The Movement Library

Sometimes we mistake elbow or wrist pain for typical injuries like tennis elbow, when really the culprit is the nerves neck (or cervical spine). The nerves in our neck run from the head and neck, to the shoulder, and all the way down into our arm and wrist running in, around, and through multiple muscles in this pathway. Because of this intricacy we may mistake nerve pain for something else – like elbow pain – when really it was the radial nerve! Try this exercise if you’re having any “nerve symptoms” – like burning or tingling in the arms.

Start by standing or sitting, with your hand griped like you are holding an Olympic 4×4 relay baton! Imagine you are passing off that baton to your teammate behind you – your arm should move into full extension with your palm facing behind you. Curl your wrist with the baton to ensure your teammate gets a good grip. Return to the start position – this is one rep.

Do this for 20 reps per side or 1 minute throughout the day!
